TfL
I think I am one of millions of Londoners who are fed up with train delays. They are sort of okay-ish and run more or less on time between 6 and 8 am (providing there are no leaves or cows on the track, of course), but once the morning rush is over, they all sort of make a big "pheewwww" thing and consider being on time as just impolite.
I almost laugh now hearing the announcements as to why exactly the train is being late. As if the fact that it is being late because of (yet another) signalling equipment failure is somehow going to make people less sick of it. Can't they bloody fix it? And the "broken down trains causing congestion"?
Sometimes they come up with new stuff. The other day it was "...being delayed due to... a driver receving an instruction to slow down after red signal" (20 mins delay). And the "customer being taken ill on a preceding train".
The worst thing is when the train does finally arrive, and to make up the time it goes fast to it's final destination.
Did you notice that a few years ago they were announcing every minute delay and now they just don't bother if the train is being late for less that 5 minutes?
Surely there must be some sort of public contract that these train companies have with their customers. I'd like to have a look. Maybe we all don't need to pay the ridiculous sums of money is they are late.
